What could your business sell for?

Answer six quick questions for a realistic price range based on what similar small businesses sell for. It takes about a minute and stays confidential.

Step 1 of 3: your business

Total sales for the last 12 months.
Profit before taxes, plus what you pay yourself and any personal or one-time costs the business pays.
How do I figure this out?

Quick way: add what you paid yourself last year to the profit left in the business. Use numbers before income taxes. Don’t subtract taxes.

To be more exact, start with your net profit before taxes from last year’s tax return or profit-and-loss statement, then add back:

  • What you paid yourself (salary or owner draws)
  • Personal expenses run through the business (car, phone, meals, family on payroll who don’t work there)
  • Interest on business loans, and depreciation
  • One-time costs that won’t repeat (a big repair, a lawsuit, a move)

Not sure? A rough number is fine. We’ll go over it together on the free consultation.

How is it run?
